World Cup Draw Script

The draw for the World Cup has been made and its not looking good for England. More on this, we move over to our sports presenter, Ron Watts.

England kick off their World Cup group of death stage against Italy, who hasn't lost in their las 6 games, then we travel 4000km to Sao Paulo where we face a very tough test against a Uruguay side, who's players have been in very fine form. Then we travel to Belo Horizonte to face our last opponents, Costa Rica, who we have never played against, so who knows what to expect! Ive been Ron Watts, Back to studio.

3 Radio Comparison

Wave 105 - Wave 105 is an adult contemporary hit radio station. Wave 105 always starts off with a serious news story with a beat behind it to build tension. In this bulletin it Starts with a news story about a man who had a heart attack. I think that Wave 105, is not suited to my category as is aimed at women aged at 40+, no newsbeat behind it. The presenters are quite posh speaking and the interviews were not for people my age. Wave 105 plays different kinds of music ranging from rock, jazz, soul and hip hop. as old as the early 1900's and as new as today.

Capital -  Capital is a contemporary hit radio station, It interests viewers aged 14 to 24, Capital radio has a good, fast newsbeat behind the reader to keep the viewers interested and to show that the bulletin is not long. The story in this bulletin is fast, good beat and snappy stories, a story that boys my age will be interested in. The interviews were interesting, short and snappy, with a beat behind it, so i was interested all way through. Capital plays more updated music of today such as house, dance and chart music, to keep the target audience interested.

Radio Solent - Radio Solent is an adult contemporary radio station. It tells news stories that are not suited for my age group as it is mainly for older people, The jingle at the start is different to the others because it feels like its going into serious mode. The stories are long winded and very serious. They are stories which elder people will like, and not teenagers. There is no beat behind the newsreader. I think they have mono-tone voices to calm the listers. Radio Solent is mainly a chat show. When i was listening to it, i mainly heard speaking and no music. When it does play music, it plays, classical, rock, pop, blues, soul and reggae.

Essential ingredients for a news bulletin:

Copy: This is where the only voice you hear is the newsreaders. It’s a story with no audio attached to it.

Clip: This is where you hear a ‘sound bite’ from another person, who isn’t another reporter. It may be part of an interview. E.g. Robbie told us he’s thrilled to have daughter ( cuts to Robbie saying how thrilled he is)

Wrap: This is where you hear the news reader, followed by a clip, followed by the newsreader again.

Vox: This is where the story is enhanced by public opinion. It’s a good way to add interest to a story by involving the audience to interact. E.g we asked these students at South Downs what they thought…..

Voicer: This is where the newsreader ‘crosses over’ to someone at the scene, or someone with more expert knowledge on a particular subject – e.g. our sports reporter xxx has more……
